How to change theory test date details

If you already have a theory test booking and want to change your theory test date, you need to use the official GOV.UK service. Book Theory Tests cannot directly change an existing DVSA appointment that was booked outside our service.

The GOV.UK change theory test service lets you find an earlier theory test, move your theory test to a later date, or change the theory test centre where you take your appointment.

When can you reschedule theory test appointments?

You can usually reschedule a theory test appointment if you give enough notice and there is another suitable DVSA slot available. GOV.UK says you must give at least 3 full working days’ notice to change your theory test, or you may have to pay again.

Monday to Saturday count as working days. Sundays and public holidays do not count as working days.

If you try to change your theory test at short notice, you may lose the fee for your existing appointment and need to pay again.
